What it is

EMEA Contech acts as specialist consultants in construction disputes: delay analysis, claims preparation and defence, and expert support for arbitration and adjudication. Our analysis is produced with GridLens, our proprietary forensic platform, and delivered by construction professionals who sign what they write.

The problem it solves

Construction disputes are decided on documents, and the documents are the problem. The evidence for a major claim sits across thousands of files in disconnected silos: drawings, correspondence, contracts, instructions, inspection records, financial data. Manual review takes four to six weeks per claim, misses relationships between documents, and consumes expert hours on data entry instead of judgment.

The deeper problem is defensibility. A position that cannot be traced back to the record does not survive cross-examination, however well it is written.

Fixed scope, sized to your record

The entry point. Scope is fixed against the size and state of your record, confirmed in a short sizing call. We ingest your project record and return:

›an honest statement of what the record supports and what it does not
›a recommendation on whether your position is worth advancing, defending, or settling

You see your dispute the way the other side's expert will see it, before proceedings begin. Timescale depends on the record: days for a contained claim file, longer for a full project corpus, stated up front, not discovered later.

Claim Review and Defence

Rapid assessment of a claim received or drafted, working from the claim documents and the records they rely on. You receive:

›an item-by-item factual assessment against the project record
›identified weaknesses, unsupported assertions, and missing substantiation on both sides
›an exposure view and counter-argument framework, each point referenced to source documents

Forensic Analysis and Claims Preparation

The full-corpus treatment, the entire project record and not just the claim file, for a claim being advanced or contested. You receive:

›forensic delay analysis (as-planned vs. as-built, time impact, collapsed as-built, per the method the tribunal will accept)
›causation chains connecting instruction to event to cost, each link cited to document and page
›quantum substantiation with every figure traced to its source record
›a schedule of what the record does not contain, so nothing surprises you later

Expert Support for Proceedings

For arbitration, adjudication, mediation, or litigation. You receive:

›expert reports written to tribunal standard, neutral in register, with document-level citation throughout
›Redfern and Scott schedules generated directly from the evidence base

What makes the analysis different

GridLens is not available as a standalone product. It is the analytical engine behind our consulting work, and it changes what we can hand you:

›Traceability by construction. Every statement in our output carries its source document, and where the source text supports it, the page, together with whether the value comes from the document's own text or from a reading of a drawing. Nothing is asserted beyond the record.
›Contradictions surfaced, not smoothed. Where the record disagrees with itself, a drawing stamped two ways, a specification that changed silently, a figure that differs between two documents, that disagreement is presented as a finding. In a dispute, the contradictions are the case.
›Gaps declared. Where the record is silent, we say so, and we tell you what document would close the gap. Our production requests are built from those gaps.
›Speed that changes strategy. A corpus review that took six weeks takes days, which means readiness assessment before positions harden, not after.

Every engagement closes with a defined evidence pack. Depending on tier, it contains:

›the evidence register: the facts relied on, each with source document and origin
›the contradictions schedule: where the record disagrees with itself, presented as findings
›the gaps statement: what the record does not contain, and which documents would close each gap
›the production schedule (Redfern format), built from the gaps statement
›the claims schedule (Scott format), item by item, with honest empty columns where a party's position is not in the record
›the quantum trail: every figure traced to its source, or marked as not quantified in the record
